Alabama State Plan for Independent Living

Greetings consumers, families and advocates!

Alabama must submit a three-year State Plan for Independent Living to the Administration for Community Living in order to receive federal funding. Monies will be used for a statewide network of Independent Living Centers serving individuals with significant disabilities, and fulfill the duties of the Alabama State Independent Living Council. This includes collaborating with state agencies and disability service programs.

YOU can help by attending a public forum and responding to a survey about the draft plan. Public forums are scheduled for May 19, 20, 21, and 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Choose the date that is best for you and join via Zoom or call-in, links below.

Participate in one or more public forums and share this invite with others. Meetings are co-hosted by Statewide Independent Living Council members and Center for Independent Living representatives.

May 19   Birmingham CIL service area

May 20   Montgomery CIL service area

May 21   North Alabama CIL service area

May 27   Mobile CIL service area

See a map of the service areas, https://drradvocates.org/contact/

Respond to the survey by May 31, 2020.
